Combines Auger Swing

My 6620 had a shear pin......Near as I could remember. It was the bolt that held the cylinder to the auger where it would push it to swivel. I tore that darn bolt out more times and if you don't think that was fun when I had a bin full of wheat. We'd tie a rope around the auger and pull it out over the truck and hold it.....then, start unloading grain until it was down far enough to replace the bolt. Next job was ligning it up and it was usually just as easy to position the cylinder where you wanted it and have the guy on the truck holding the auger with the rope to either come forward or backwards till you had the pin in......I'm thinking it was a 5_16 bolt we used. Wasn't very big....might be bigger on the maximizers. I don't know for certain that was quite what deere had in mind when they designed it but I know I replaced it at least 3 times just from regular use.....didn't bump anything. you could probably put a genuine shear pin in it's place and get rid of that problem.......Or, release the dump valve on the truck so the air bags empty out....might make it easier to get the auger over. This is provided you have an air ride system. Good luck. Deerebines
