Combines Australian Crop in Big TroubleIJ

In short, bloody terrible! Crops around here (Riverina) are a week away from total right-off. Some have already passed that stage with stock being put on crops already. East of Wagga is not to bad but it's patchy. The contracting game is going to be really tough to disasterous. The next 4 months will show how bad it is.

Here in WA it is patchy. The coastal strip is OK but the inland wheatbelt is average to disasterous. We all need rain within the next fortnight or it will be a major problem. We have had a couple of frosts and some warm days. Oz.

Around Dalby (south east Queensland) it's very patchy. On our place it's dry as a bone yet there is some nice chickpeas and barley two miles away where there has been showers twice and we have had nothing. If there is no rain shortly probably 70 to 85 percent will be written off.john

WQlD was all but a write off... again except a couple of small lucky patches around Wallumbilla and NE of Roma. lot of people gambled big time after missing out on a decent crop last year by planting some big acreages on very very marginal moisture. Once planted we had almost 6 weeks of very dry sub 0 mornings and as a result what did eventually come out of the ground has just sat their and done nothing. To add insult to injury, what has gotten out, is just being mowed down by roo's, wallabies, emu's and pigs coming in looking for food from out west. Some showers came through the other day and brightened up what was out of the ground, most of which isn't much past 3 to 4 leaf stage... if that. The big killer will be in late August, early September when those hot dry winds start blowing across and drying out the last of what little moisture there was left around those plants. Here's to a huge summer crop boys!!

we are situated east of wagga (southern nsw) and the crops are still looking reasonable on good sub soil moisture.will need good spring rain to get a average crop.
