Combines Auto header height problem

Did you have a lighter head on this machine beforeIJ I think if you slow the drop rate down, it will help. There is a hydraulic adjustment in the metal box just outside the cab door. You do it with a screwdriver, if I remember right. I think it is common for the sensitivity to be near the minimum setting to achieve stability. I also think the book is correct, close the accumulator valve.

Don't close the accumulator valve. That is an open center system and must have the accumlator to survive. Decreasing the drop rate will help. Did you convert to the mechanical header height linkate from the cableIJ The 1600's used a differnt pot than 21-1300 do. If you make this conversion you will also need a resistor harness to cut the voltage back. Don't have the part number, but the parts guys should kknow what you would be asking for. It is in the combine product performance kit catalog.

When I first star my 1660 up the header tends to bounce a lot and not drop smoothly. i just turn the sensitivity all the way down until the oil warms up and then turn the sensitivity up aoubt halfway

I will try slowing the header drop rate down.I just bought the combine and heads in April,so I am still learning.The head still has the cable,it was replaced by dealer as old one would not move.I do have the pot for the 1600 series combines.How much should the accumulator valve be open and should I worry about the rate of raise adjustmentIJ

I am new to CaseIH combines,both my 1020 and my 1063 heads were not original heads to combine. I talked to old owner and he kept his old heads,a 30ft flex and a 1083 corn head,so I don't know why the rate of lower would be set so fast with me using smaller heads.I will play with it some more when soybeans get ripe,still looks like a few weeks yet here in western NY.All the crops here are behind,do to a late wet spring and a cool summer.
