Combines Auto Hgt Header Control

It could be that switch if it's feeling weird when you turn it or it might be in the electrical connector between the head and combine. I'd check the connector first - make sure all the contacts are making contact, clean any dirt_grit_crud_crap_etc out of it. We had trouble once with one of the positions and tracked it down to that connector. Might also be where the wire connects to the "3 spring thingy". Now, if I were a dealer, I'd probably know what that "thingy" is called!! ;) Good luck!

in reply i am a dealer and tom guessed the part right.it is a fred thingy. raise header all the way up,put down ram stop of course .then make sure All THREE SPRINGS hit the thingy bar in the lower position. then let the header all the way down without the header controll on and make sure All THREE SPRINGS hit the oposite thingy bar. some flex headers(most) freeze up on the ball joints and there isn"t enough float for the thingy bar to hit all three springs in both positions easy to check and happens alot hope this helps

Thanks for all the help. I found the problem. There was a break in the l sensor wire about 20 inches from the combine connector. I'll bet that the wire has been broken since the machine was built. In the area of the break there was no visable damage to the harness or streses. Thanks again; Tom B
