What about moving the adjustment on the front of the feeder house one hole to increase the cutter bar angle. John Starnes Caraway, AR.

Could be your cutterbar down pressure is set to light.Increase down pressure by adjusting leaf springs at the back of header.Evenly adjust the two bolts,one on each side of the leaf

You probably already tried it but in case you forgot try turning down the sensitivity pot in the cab. It might let the header run down without having to do what the others suggested.
