Check into the Deere Universal Auto trac bundle. It is much cheaper than the complete auto trac system and you can use the same system on your tractor and combine. We are hoping to use on for our Steiger and 9760sts

Assume you are refering to the universal steering wheel. Can it be mounted say on a Caterpillar tractor in the spring and then put on a 9760 in the fallIJ Do you need to buy any special adaptersIJ Do you see any drawback to going this routeIJ

The universal steering from JD uses a [itc starfire globe] which has terrain compesating built right into the system, to move the system from one unit to another you move the globe, prosessor and the steering wheel pod. the only thing you have to purchace is a $40 hub and $200 wiring harness. The change over takes about 10 min with the extra machine pre wired.JD is accurat to 4inches pass to pass compared to 10 iches with others and i have tried them..the bonus is the 9 foot look forward which is great on forage cutter or straight cutting on a combine with a 36ft header.Hope this info helps

I have used both systems with my 9220 4WD. The Universal system was in first and I thought it was great. I had ordered the internal system but there was a delay in receiving all the components, so my dealer put the Universal wheel in (about 30 minutes) The internal system is much smoother, quieter and has quicker response. Since then I have ordered a Universal kit to go in my 4450 (for spraying) and steering wheel adapter kit and wire kit for my Massey swather. The Universal it is around 3,500 CDN, wire harness approx $600, steering wheel adaptor $50. I already own the receiver and display from my internal system. Once you buy the steering wheel, display and reciever, it only costs around $600 to put in other equipment. By the way, I am very satisfied with Starfire 1 signal. It has been within 3-4 inches all the time.

Why not get the e-drive for your outback. You could then get the hydraulic hook-ups for both power units and interchange the boxes.

I installed the Deere Autotrac integrated system in my 9760STS. Took me some time but now hope to never be without it. I use the SF2 signal, set up to cut 29.5 feet with a 30 foot Deere draper. It will do it all day and I guess all night long in either straight or curve tracks. Wonderful for unloading on the go.
