Hi. We farm in north central Montana. We have owned a CTS II for 4 years now. We grow mostly wheat with a little barley on some years. We think the CTS is the best combine you can own for small grains. You got the aggressiveness of the cylinder_concave for tough conditions and the cylinder tine seperators for maximum seperation. The two rotors put the crop through a spin cycle. You have to know how to set a CTS to get the right kind of productivity. Some people didn't like the CTS because the capicity wasn't anymore than a 9500. That is because when you set a CTS you have to forget every thing you know about the 9600. For example, you open the cylinder up and open the precleaner about 1_3. The CTS II will bury a 9600 in barley and run along side Case 2388's. The capicity is about the same in wheat but we have found that you can get a better sample and not throw as much over with the CTS as compared to the 9600. Another benfit is that is doesn't lose as much grain out the back on hills as our 8820 does. The CTS II does grind up the straw. During the day when it is hot and dry there would hardly a windrow. But towards evening and during the night when it is cool out, the straw would come out almost as good as it does in a conventional. We don't raise corn but some guys have stated that they work pretty nice in corn. However, others have said the opposite. As far as I am concerned, the CTS is a better machine then the STS. It is also been proven since it has been on the market for about 10 years. I think they should have put the CTS design into the 9600 body to get a bigger combine. I noticed on your posts that you run a C62. I am interested hearing about the C62. I saw one at a farm show a while back but that is all the action I have seen.
