greengoose Guest Aug 12, 2002 #2 The straw was destroyed and couldnt really bale it. My advice use a convention if at all possible
DeereStroyer Guest Aug 13, 2002 #3 Barley straw doesn't get all chewed up....we run our sts at about 620 rpm.....concave at 3-4 and keep it full.

Balerman Guest Sep 1, 2002 #4 STS combines seem to chew up straw worse when its wet. The variety of the barley also has alot to do with it. I big square bale 1200 acres of wheat straw a year behind sts's and for the most part don't have any problems. Keep it full and dry.
