We cut a door to the batterys just aft of the radiator screen. Used piano hinge and stiffened with angle and flat iron. Now they can be easily blown off when the radiator is cleaned. Also put in a battery diconnect switch, breaking the negative lead, mounted to operated from the outside between the new door and the radiator. Everyone likes it.

I think the tank was placed there to double as a step to get at top of tailings. You could likely move it to gain some room. The first years of liquid engines we found batterys failing thus needing alot of service. The reason for all the service was batterys draining slowly over a couple months. The main reason for draining was the coolant module fastened next to radiator. We rewired most of ours to have currant only when key was on. This prevented most of the key off drain which prevented batterys from draining. Batterys just don't like being anything but fully charged. When they have been discharged for any length of time they are damaged and will sweat much more than normal. When batterys sweat they continuously need cleaning. I don't recall alot of problems with the batterys lately for I think even the factory took care of the key off drain problems. A good job neutralizing the acid and prevent overfilling battery should prevent the excess cleaning. Take care.
