Ken, We bought a new l_M bean head in 80 that we called a floating head. We also bought a new l_M 315 head in 89 that we called a flex head. Some guys liked the floating head in beans but I thought the flex head was light years ahead of the older style. I dont remember anything about distance between the cutter bar and the auger. After about 1990 you had to special order l_M heads. Where are you keeping yourself these daysIJ Tom Russell
