Combines Best Cutter bar System

Farmer Ed, to me it's hands down SCH w_roller guides. We are on our third one on combine platforms. They wear well, cut clean, drive easy, wear on the guards less, and work well in no-till soybeans compared to an inch and a half section. Your wobble box will last longer too. We had one on our NH 973 flex-heads and they are factory installed on the HoneyBee draper heads. I've tried the others, but SCH is the best.

Have not used all of the knife systems you are looking at but have heard many comments . King Cut is over rated and know of many who have switched to back OEM Knife set ups . SCH is an o.k. system but can add up dollar wise . SCH roller guides will only work on a SCH complete knife set up . Herschel I know only one guy who runs one and he is going back to OEM . I run a CseIH knife and like it . One thing I have done to mine is I put Crary spring loaded hold downs on ever other hold down . I don't care what knife you have ... It will not cut properly if it is not down against the guard . One thing I have noticed is that many will pay more attention to their knife if they are using an after market one . If they are using an OEM they will not look at it untill it is junk and then say it is a piece of crap . Must be because they put out extra money for it so they are more aware of it and don't want it to look bad and cut poor . Air Reels ..... There should not be a combine doing beans with out one . I have to go along with Varment, 3"OEM and Crary spring loaded hold downs. I've had good luck buying the OEM guards and sections from Shoup and Sloans.

The problem I have with the SCH system is that it will not cut as low as the OEM 1 1_2" or 3" system. The SCH installs their sections to the top of the sickle bar, where the OEM is bolted to the bottom. It does not seem like much, but makes a difference in cutting. I do not think I am missing any beans, but leaves the field look bad.
