If you always want to spread the residue wider, the high speed kit is as simple as replacing the current current pulley with a smaller one. It takes PN 1994772C1 and spacer 27828R1. We run this pulley with two sets of the standard rubber bats stacked on top each other. One is flipped up like normal and one is flipped down. In the aggressive setting we spread close to 25 ft wide. On the less aggressive setting it will be inside 20 ft. It's a pretty cheap way to go. Here's a link to more info.

JC: The curved bats are available from the combine product performance catalog at your dealer. If you are running the standard speed spreader you will probably want to mount them in the standard or possibly advanced position. If you have installed the speed up kit will most likely need to put them in the retarded position. You may have to redrill some holes in your spreaders to mount the bats as there were some slight differences between the 1600 and 2000 series combine spreaders. Might also want to check out the new quick coupler available to remove the spreaders. Works a lot better than the twist couplers and much faster than unbolting things. JC, I think I've tried every straw spreader bat and speed up kit that case has and even some after market straw spreader bats. The only thing that works for me are those cuved metal bats. Unless you have a 40 mph side wind like we often have here in Kansas, they'll spread wheat straw 30' set in the middle position. When I cut soybeans with my 25' flex headers, I just place the left spreader on the right side and the right spreader on the left side and that runs the bats backwards and they spread the soybean trash a perfect 25' K.A.

The big spreaders made by Farris mfg. of Goodland KS work really good they are off set since they are to big in diameter to run side by side and cost around $450 for both

We started out with the curved bats set to high speed this summer in TX with 30' draper head but found that it would spread too well into the standing wheat and then would strip when came by with next comine in line would cut it. So we put them in low or regular speed and worked excellent. I don't remember off hand how the bats were set (advanced, reguler, or slow) on the spreader disc but we did have choppers and I think that helped too just to break up the starw better

I always have trouble with the left straw spreader receiving 70% of the straw off the chopper and it can't handle it leaving a strip on the left-hand side .I have seen posts talking about a adjustable rear hood mounted deflector. but none of the dealerships in my area have heard of such a deflector, any help or part n's would be appreciated.
