YES!!! You hit the nail on the head on this one! I've had Axialflow since 1978, and have had this problem on all 3, (1460-2366 series). I just replaced the floor on my 2366 (600 hrs) that broke across the drum area ($390.00). I also thought about making my own with 3_16" (I was thinking 1_4") but didn't have time and dealer said that part was very hard steel for extended wear life (which explains breaking or cracking instead of bending or denting). I also considered the angle iron support in the hinge area, but didn't. Should have! I did repair the 1660 floor (cracked and wearedIJ hole through) by welding a 3_16" plate over the old floor about 12" back from the front face, be sure to weld across rear of plate or when the feeder chain is reversed it will catch the plate and fold over forward (believe me, it WIll!). It worked great for years. Burkharts (CaseIH dealer) said they use an 18" plate on the many machines they had repaired. I kept old floor for a copy to make a spare some day. We use the rock drum up front and have some rocks which is hard on the plate. Also corn and green stem soybeans is hard on it. Good luck! I think you're on the right track here allright. Ted cenOH
