Combines BF8l513 HEAD TEMP lIGHT R70 HElP

I have absolutely no experience with the Deutz engines, but I might try replacing the temp sender with a temperature sender_guage to verify what the stable temperature is when running under a full load. This is to establish a baseline that the engine is running at the correct temperature. Then work your way back. Depending on the type of sender the engine came with stock, you should be able to check it with a DVM. After that, have the idiot light cluster checked out by an AGCO rep. Other than that, I'm not sure what else could be wrong if your sure the sender wire is okay. Good luck.

have been there,,, moved sensor to another head to see if still had same problem.didn't... not everyone is aware that deutz heads are hollow under tappet cover clear through to manifold side.no excuses for them but they are NOT easy to clean out. had an r60 that burned fire ring out for our first lesson because it was plugged. also later style had flip up shielding around manifold to aid in cleaning,if not closed will not force as much air through head fins. please let us know what you find because I'm sure you aren't alone. hope this helps and makes sense.

Make sure engine has all of it's high idle. I've seen where the engine is short say 50-80 rpm from high idle that they can also warm up. That small amount can make a big difference at the clutch shaft. If high idle is short your trying to build peek power in a smaller window, say 50 rpm's off of high. You need to have a 150 rpm window to build power in. If you only have a 50 rpm window your lugging the engine and not knowing it and this can cause an overheating problem.Hope this helps. dslman

We have run 6 cylinder deutz diesels on our farm for years, and found that the "idiot light" would flicker for no apparent reason on +30 c days(sensor in n2 cylinder). We took the step of installing a deutz temp guage in n1 as well as keeping the idiot light.

We have had a few do this and some were due to improper cleaning but most were due to the wire that connects the sensor to the harness. As you probably know this sensor has a resistance range it operates in . One cannot ground out or open the circuit to "turn out the lights". Now I will hum that tune all day long... Routing a new wire from sender to harness has fixed our problems in a few cases, making sure it is insulated from any extreme heat source. Wires that get hot change resistances. Might try this....at least you feel you are doing something......

Been there and still there. Be sure you pressure wash out the fins above the sending unit until you are certain there is no plugage beyond where you can see. Engine compartment just runs to hot on the hot hot days. Most have the beaper turned down very low. I would like to try a couple of electric fans on roof to pump the super hot air out. If I were brave enough I would cut open a slot in floor of engine compartment and build a venturi affect panel to use rushing shoe air to suck air from engine compartment. It seems as though the engine compartment just runs to hot on the hotest days and that heat recirculates threw rotary screen. That heat is also absorbed into the air intake system as the air heads for the turbos. Cooler air intake would help keep the heads cooler. Maybe some how insulating the air intake system would make the difference. I too am looking for the cure for hot heads. I'll keep thinking. Any other ideasIJ

It doesn't get that hot unless the Canadians quit sending down that clean fresh cool air. I don't think the problem is the heat anyway for I believe it is the extra strong pull from the magnet that is up near the north pole and when it is yanking on muffler bearing it tilts it over touching the sending unit for the head temp and couple that up with the pull on the wires it just freaks out the monitor which causes that awfull beaping to come right threw the two layers of duct tape and get all tied up somewhere in ones brain. I sure do like not having the radiator so some day we will figure a way to cool down the engine comparment. Have a great day.
