You would be lucky if you did catch help at the dealership. More than likely, the man you do get will be much further away than that, but you already know that. Do you expect anyone to beleive the local Case dealer will be benevolent to the field man when he rolls in there with a $150K service truck to get a part for someone who would not buy the machine from the same guyIJ The saving grace here is the original axial design is durable enough to make all this service thing work. All different with the 8010. You have yourself a great day, R. I gotta go crank up my les paul and give my strat a break. GS

Ok, so Iforgot to say, Yes somtimes you have to grab a motel at 1:00am 200-300 miles away from home. Which, when your in your designated area, the next morning, your already in most of your customers area. And if there is a part which is not on the truck, the parts locator system will find the nearest part and location to obtain it. Now when a tech shows up with exp and schooled knowledge of the problam, it does not take long to fix it and go to the next job. It still seems like a few sceptics feel that ther local dealers can perform the same service! I will lay money on that if these smaller size dealers do not have year around combine techs, they are already behind before they start, which usually means they spend alot time in a book or trying to call somebody else that might have a clue. Can you honestly compare to that every yearIJ

We had the same problem of no parts!!! They could always order it and be there in a day or two so we got to pay the freight! A lot of good that does in the middle of harvest!! We fixed the problem. We went green. Many others in our area are following our decision.

I find it extremely hard to beleive that any CaseIH dealer with 3 stores could have service and parts that poor. The cummins engine is the same filter clear through the Magnums! Even if he don't have a rotor belt there's no reason in the world not to have one over night. Where in the world are youIJ UkraineIJ

I would tend to agree with you Chads..... I have driven in the midddle of harvest 120 miles to bloomington mn (jd dist. center) to pick up parts for our "great" 9600's back in the mid 90's (not sure what broke, was in college home for weekend, I think reversers meltedIJ) anyway was 2 long shafts (one for each combine that broke 10 minutes after we switched to corn) that no dealer had.....I drove past 4 dealerships (all individual owned) on hwy 212, not to mention other dealers within 50 miles, none were to be found.... I guess my point is all dealerships have there downfalls even the green ones. One of the best moves our farm ever made was to trade 9600's for 2388's the year before sts made its debut... How's the conventional market these daysIJ Good luck

Since you ask, I will tell you my experience. I can't say I have ever seen any deere or IH mechanic ever look at a book. They are all experienced with what they are doing. The schooling they get is on the company so they don't have to do it on the customers time. The guys in all the dealerships around me all have worked on this stuff before so it is fairly easy to jump on and r and r the thing. You have a very low opinion of all these guys and they just are not that bad. You have better luck finding motel with a vacancy at 1AM than me.. I still wish you good luck, and better sleep habits! Not all of us have the perfect dealer doesnot mean that becuse he has three stores that they are good.I am from Canada .In ower area there was the different dealers two that were great dealers and case told them one had to own all three. The worst dealer bought out the great dealers. My 7230 tractor had the bearings go in the transmission in november and broke all the gears in that section. They took it by float to there shop and fixed it it cost $14000.00 Canadian with labour to fix.I just got the tractor back on Jan 27,2005.I hope you don't think this is great service.Every time I went to see what was taking so long they always said they were waiting for parts. Most of the time they have three working in the shop but in the winter it is down to one.

Walterman's will get parts from other dealer's if they need to, dealers get parts from other dealers all the time so that's no big deal. We would buy locally if our dealer had a competitive program, one farmer in our area started a roll on a 2388 with Walterman's after they were over $10,000 cheaper than our local dealer on nearly identical combines. We have not needed a service call from Walterman's since we haven't had anything but minor problems but those I've talked to who have needed service calls have been extremely happy with the service. We bought our MX-240 from Walterman's after looking around for an MFD tractor that size to rent, none of the local dealers had anything comparable but Walterman's would let us use this MX-240 on their roll program for a lower $_hour rate than the local dealers had for tractors 10 years older plus they would put that full amount towards the purchase price if we decided to buy it. We do 90% of our business locally and feel it's important to support our local dealer's but if we can save $10,000 on a combine by buying it 180 miles away we will.

Good luck, Cliff.. apparantly I am the only one who thinks you get what you pay for. Maybe this is the exception. Did you put on the trailing edge seed openers on the leading edge spot yetIJ Cut trash so much better for me it was like a different planter. I had to take out all the spacers on the leading edge slot I could to close the gap, though, but nothing seems to get in between. GS
