Big Farmer was one of the best magazines, but I didnt get it until 75 or 76. It folded when the head guys daughter got Hodgkins disease and he wanted more time to spend with her. His name was Ralph Dralle or Draille or something like that. I bought a pair of 4wd tractors based on Big Farmers farmer comparison and sure enough I noticed the same good and bad points the other guys mentioned. We need a magazine like Big Farmer that isnt afraid to tell it like it really is. Tom in MN

Well, nobody actually ever "won." This was not a contest, but just a test to record each combine's good_bad points. It looks like overall, the Gleaner, yes, that old 1972 l, did as good as any. I think it had a few more high scores in some areas than the Massey 760,IH 915 and Oliver 7800, although by no means was any combine given any overall poor rating. All of them did pretty darn well, which proves my long-standing point that with the exception of actual lemons which occur in every line, there are no bad combines being built.

looking to buy an older 830 corn head to use on R62. Would also like to find a 20 - 25 foot 500 series flexhead. I guess we'll have to post under here till it gets fixed.
