Combines Biodiesel

Pure biodiesel can create some problems. I worked with it at MU about 10 years ago. If you'd like to discuss it further just post or e-mail. Personally, I would use it in a high percentage blend, say 20-30% before I would use it straight. I currently use a 5% blend. Chads

Is the price of the biodiesel any different than regular dieselIJ Where are you atIJ I am from ND and dont have any around here.

We have been paying a small charge, like $.01 per percent, I beleive. However, with current fuel prices there may be no upcharges. I'll check with my fuel supplier and find out. Where do you get your fuel up thereIJ I would think that a coop up there would have it available. Chads

It there a price for it. If so I would like to know what it is even if it is not in my area.

I started using 5% blend this spring. I have been using their 2% blend for 8 years. It cost $.01_percent of blend. I know some of the fuel suppliers buy the soy additive in 55 gal drums and add to diesel per customers order. As long as the additive is added and blended well, it will never separate. During the winter, I have always used n2 diesel with 2% blend and used Z4 Products fuel conditioner and anti-gel and have never had gelling problems. I still think the majority of winter fuel problems are from water problems.

You won't have gelling problems with any of the blends in use today. You can get into some handling issues with 100% biodiesel. There are also some misting problems, and concerns with seals and other parts of the fuel systems. You could burn 100% biodiesel no problem if you wanted to, but you might get into some interesting problems while doing it. If you would get in a truckload to blend, be careful handling it in large quantities. It creates a vapor that can be oxygen limiting in enough quantity. Sent one guy to the emergency room. Chads
