ruger .22 seems to help, but on a more serious note, I havent found anything to help out that problem too much.

I put a bounty ($1) on the pigeons in our shed and they haven't been back for a year. Kids learn how to shoot good too! I have a air pellet gun that shoots about 1000fps. Drops a pigeon good. The only thing I worry about is the glass on the cabs, but no problems up to now.

This isn't really the answer to your (mine) problem, but after trying everything I could think of I gave up and started covering everything I knew was gonna sit till spring with tarps. I just hate to see birdcrap all over my equipment. Not what your looking for but a possible idea. good luck Brad

we have cut 8 inch strips of plywood and nailed them on the bottom of the trusses and this has helped alot. it catches alot of the poop!

I heard on the radio one day a guy called the "Friendly Traper" and for Pigeons he said to set out some broken Alka-Seltzer tablets. Guess the tabs cause them to plug up and die. Jack

I have had good luck with Avitrol. You mix it with cracked corn and it kills a few birds then the rest leave. ...........................Mark

I second the Avitrol. It has worked better than any other product I have ever used. It is a restricted product. The best luck with sparrows and starlings is to ground feed them with the product. Just watch where they are feeding at certain times of the day. Then use your mixture and drop a little on the ground in those places every few days. They will disappear! Just remember to keep the vigilance up in time when they reappear. It is not a cheap product. It is about $200 for 5n which will be mixed at a rate of about 10_1 with similar ground corn.

A year ago, we widened the doors on a metal machine shed we own and replaced the sliding doors with an overhead door. An unexpected benefit has been that it has totally eliminated a bird problem we had in that building. I always thought the old doors closed pretty well.

We had birds real bad until a couple years ago. We put a couple cats in the tool shed, end of bird problem. Side benifit is they pretty well cleaned out the mice also. Don't overfeed them as they will quit hunting and make sure thay have plenty of water. I have also heard of running fishing line between the trusses helps.

The Alka-Seltzer is a bad thing to do--it does in the bird what it does in the glass! A .22 with birdshot would be a better alternative and certainly quicker for the bird. I don't like shooting them but the owl statue doesn't work either and the poison route is just as bad.
