you can add a couple of links to the chain and move it forward. You can also speed up the chain with the early lat tilt sheave and belt. sorry i do not check this topic often. Harv's do not like the lat tilt because it does not fit any of the their old 'jigs' lat tilt can be removed easily if you choose that way. Pieces are the plates that bolt on the std feed hsg.

As far as I know there is no model n for a Bish plate. They are pretty simple and you will like the JD head on your M they fit like they were made for a Gleaner. I have a 643 JD head on my l3 and love it. If you need mesurments as to if it fits I'll try to get them off mine tomarrow and get back to you. For now the front should look like any JD feader house front. It has two bumps on top that hold the head and a bolt hole in the bottom. The rear should have a tube on top that fits in the slot where your gleaner head sits and hooks on the bottom that latch in where the head laches go. I think that the l and M adapters are the same except the hook position which is adjustable for either model. The drives for the head will be a simple PTO shaft on newer ones and may have a strait shaft on older ones. Hope this helps
