When you buy an adapter face-plate from Bish, you buy the one specifically for the combine and head you want to put together(CIH-JD,Cat-NH,CIH-Acco),then hang it on the front of your feeder house. You are now ready to attach the head, there are usually some changes to make on drive hook-ups and speed up sprocket for auger drive-these are in the kit you order. We bought ours in 1980, still have it. We use it on an 8 row JD crop head, been on 1480,1688,2188,2388,and even a 915. Works great, you'll like it. We have gone to 15 in rows now, don't need it anymore, anyone interested-it is for sale, 1989 model 853A- completly rebuilt 450 acres ago.

So if you take the JD row head off and put on a CIH head, how much extra time and effort does it take to make the switch compared to two CIH headsIJ You can e-mail me with the $ and location of the 853A. We are in the market. Thanks

The adaptor converts the header to fit your combine. When changing different brands of heads there is no time difference after the adaptor is installed on the head. I have a Bish adaptor and drive shafts for sale. It converts a JD head to a CASE-IH combine.
