We take off the side shields on the corn head to pick up down corn. Its the black sheet metal on the outside rows. That way it doesn't build up on the ends of the header causing you to start dragging the down corn out by the roots. Also try to pick from the side of the field and work towards the way the corn is leaning if that is possible. Good luck. Kevin
