Combines Boost gauge on R62

I can't say what the boost readings normally are for I don't find them printed anywhere. I used to dyno test every single machine but not anymore after upgrades. I just had to know if engines were up to specs. Most were up to power but torque curve would not come in as soon as desired for a combine. Rated load on the V8 Deutz is 2300RPM and should be comfortable to run at + or - 50RPM. Keep the high idle no load on the Deutz V8 at 2510RPM because if it has slipped 100RPM the point at which power comes in will slip the same. Boost gauges are good in that they give you a better idea of what kind of power the engine is producing and can be used to compare with another machine. RPM gauges when used to monitor power will only show you when power should be there. Boost gauge will give you an indication of an engine losing power. With the loss of the fuel restriction light and boost gauge in the mid '80's we had to go by the seat of the pants fell for a loss of power. Gleaner has the instuctions for calibrating your V8 Deutz diesel pump in the latest service manual. All the dyno test information is covered well in either the service manual or service bullitons. If your over a 1000 hours I would have injectors done along with the pump. I would set valves if not done within 500hrs. If valves are holding there clearance you may want to go longer. Allways monitor engine very close for awhile for any leaks if you have had it apart. Have a G'day.

Did you have to bring up FPS for I had almost lost them brain cells. Oh well I wonder if we did so bad when we had the best seed quality and least loss. We may of even got more bushels per hour for what I hear the two out front were dumping on the ground. Maybe this year the machine will be equiped to take the show with speed also. I must admit what I have mentioned is all hearsay for all manufactures had to agree to any publication. I wonder who refused publication. I've tried to burn them memory cells of the days before extended bars on the large P3's and feeder shocks but havn't got there yet. Can't wait to see what all comes standard on the first machines out of Hesston. We all may just like it. Have a good day.
