Combines Boost Pressure on N6

Per old service bulletin the intake boost should be 23PSI when lugging down to rated load. Cracked center should not drop it that much unless a plug is gone out of manifold. MAny units are running with a heat shield off a 190XT oil cooler wrapped with a couple of hose clamps. Do you have smoke or notIJ At this low a boost you should be laying down a solid stream of black smoke IF the pump is set to deliver the proper amount of fuel. If you have no excessive amount of smoke then you don't have fuel necessary to build boost.

I have run a 84 N-6 for 10 years and I would say that in heavy wheat (esp. damp) and a nonmodified machine they are underpowered. The motor also seems to have no torque reserve and once you reach the limit it "crashes" easily. You might also check the guage line especially where it hooks into the motor for leaks. I have twice thought something was wrong with my motor because of low boost but eventually found that the line to the guage was simply leaking. Check for exhaust leaks and the like but this may just be normal.

No smoke. Hard starting, requires ether to start even on a warm morning. Is there anything to the coolant concernIJ

sounds to me like a blown headgasket between 5 and 6 wont start and no low end power take compression check and u will no on dyno will only have about 120-140 hp

Whats it timed toIJ Make sure it is 19 Degrees. Check hose to boost gauge for leak like others suggested. Double check pump job if all else fails and be sure proper injectors were installed. Sounds like you need to go back and check some of these things that other have suggested. Shouldn't be hard to run in 18PSI range for sure. Good luck

The dealer has picked it up and due to a couple of major problems on new machines hasn't got to it yet. Hopefully the beginning of the week. Brought out an elderly N7 to fill in and it has drizzled ever since. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.
