Combines boron as an alternative to chrome

I put a Sunnybrook rotor in my R62 last fall and have about 250 hrs. on it now. It does have the boronized bars. It is my understanding that the boronized bars could be made to last almost indefinately but would be costly to do so. It is also my understanding that Sunnybrook is experimenting with different thicknesses at this time to see how much should be applied to wear at a certain rate. If you want more information I would reccommend calling the Sunnybrook company.

Boronizing is a project we have been working on for some time and does appear to be superior to chrome in many applications. For a while yet, we will be trying to determine optimum performance in consideration of alloys and substratum. We are in the process of building a new facility to meet the demand.
