That is a very common problem with CASEIHC sieves and chaffers. Next time you replace, go for a loewen, as they open and close smooth and easy,plastic bushings that the wires go through, with a spring loaded notched handle to keep adjustment in place, no thumb screws or wing nuts to wreck your fingers on, and you don't have to put a pipe on the handle to move it, and some great side benefits are that they automaticaly clean up your language problem and improve family relationships - what a bonus!
