Combines Bottom Sieve Setting

Depends on the crop you're doing. For lighter grains (canola, grass seeds, etc.) use the top hole. For heavier grains (wheat, corn, soybeans, etc.),use the bottom hole. Having the sieve in the bottom hole will send more air to the top chaffer for better cleaning and suspension of trash. Moving it to the top has the opposite effect (less air to top chaffer).

Book said that in the bottom hole in some conditions for shoe overload, did not really say what crops. Mine was in the middle position and it looked like it had been in the top hole at one time. I think that it did canola in Canada before we got it. It came with a light seeds bracket that mounts on the back of the chaffer. I cut the first eight louvers on the chaffer loose and mounted a seperate handle for it. This is in a long shoe machine. Has anyone else done this in the long shoe machinesIJ I was amazed at the amount of grain that goes through the first few rows. When I pulled the chaffer out I could see it on the bottom side of the chaffer.
