I also think most Deere owners will agree that Cat's 90 extra horsepower and MUCH higher price will outperform a 9750, but let's get "real"! A Cat 480_485 WIll NOT keep up to two Deere 9610's, 9650,s, or STS's. This myth of replacing two combines with one Cat is extremely exaggerated, unless (of course) you're running a couple of old 7720's.

Excuse me, 90 extra horsepowerIJ last time I checked a 9750 STS had 325hp, while the big Cat has 365hp. My math says thats only 40. Then when you take in the Deere power boost and bulge it tops out at 358hp.

Sorry Homer! I was quoting STS9650 instead of STS9750 specs, but I still maintain that the capacity difference is marginal compared to what some "lion tamers" make the difference between the two machines out to be! As for the power bulge, it only seems to kick-in while unloading on the go, and seldom any other time!

I custom combine in the midst of Ontario's dairy country, and straw quality is of great importance to most farmers. In fact, many will not permit a rotary on their farms, in spite of the fact that some rotaries produce reasonably good quality, balable straw. I witnessed a Deere STS9750 against a CAT 480, and neither machine left good straw, although neither operator seemed to know much about their respective machines, either. QUESTION: Does a "properly operated" CAT leave decent balable strawIJ

SilverTurnedGreen I do not believe a Cat 480 would do as much as two
