That is exactly what happened to me with a 78 model but I thought it was redesigned in subsequent years. I learned the hard way to never hold the steering wheel all the way to either side. Mine broke when I was leaving a field on a very cold day but fortunately the head was a foot off the ground so I could drive to a safe location. I didnt do any flushing and had no further hydraulic problems. Tom in MN
Quite a few of these pumps broke that way prior to about 1983. I don't think we broke any of the newer improved pumps. We didn't go threw the trouble of cleaning any valves and had no further troubles (maybe just lucky but I think the problem was pump weakness). Most pumps lasted 10 plus years and a few weren't that lucky.
