the sequence of event are probably like this. The bin filled up to the discharge tube, The outlet auger flighting is probably kaput so the corn backed up in the tube, filled up and started BACK down the clean elevator chute till it reached bottom and then the boot is maxed and the auger stopped and the slip clutch was also maxxed so.......... the shaft will not take much over 20hp....

No 300 ft extension Quicksilver, just a 1x4 board bolted to the back of the tank to allow me to make an extra round when we're harvesting our plots. It is amazing how this simple board keeps the grain rolling ahead just enough to help me out.

Thanks for your suggestions tbran! I did not hear the auger slip clutch and I checked the outlet auger flighting and it's in good shape. Any other ideas or advice on how much tension to put on the elevator chain when we're back togetherIJ Thanks again!

I am talking blin loading auger flighting at the top of the bin, only about 12" inside the tube. Elevator chains at time of adjustment should be tighted so as to JUST be able to move the link with two fingers on bottom spkt. It will loosen soon.

How good of shape are the elevator paddlesIJ I had some wore (and mouse damage) bad enough that they would not take the grain away from the boot fast enough causing the clean grain cross auger to fill up and slip the clutch. One thing that will shear pins in the slip clutch is rounding of the clutch casting and the shaft edges where the pin goes in. The only way to fix this is with a new clutch casting and auger, since you will be putting in a new auger I would suggest installing a new clutch casting.

tbran, help me understand the total picture with this. with all that you mentioned that is probably worn on this machine would not the slip clutch if in working order prevented the broken clean grain augerIJ
