Combines Bubble up auger

We also have a 2388 with a Crary bin extension. The only trouble I have had is the auger flighting on the incline auger wore out quicker then I thought it would. It really started to show wear when we got into soybeans, as these are much more abrasive then cereal or oilseed crops. We don't harvest corn with our combine but I would suspect if you were doing alot of high moisture corn you could have issues with your slip clutch on the grain elevator and your incline auger would wear out quicker then with out a bin extension. A bin extension is well worth the money you don't have to be stopping to dump as often and usually two dumps will fill a tandem truck or four dumps will fill a semi.

Hey brodale how much are theseIJ ive been thinking about getting one Weve never had problems except in wet corn and beans but it usually goes away after a week and no issues at all last year for some reason we had tons of trouble with it slipping so who knows also he's right it does wear the auger out faster i still wish they would make the heavy duty option standard in the 2388 machines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bubble up auger will lighten load on the clean grain elevator drives as well as reduce wear on the inclined auger. The other bonus in beans and corn is greatly reduce the fines you would see in the sample, especially in high moisture corn and over dry beans. Well worth the investment as it can be removed and installed in next machine. My $0.02

Yeah i did that...heck i did 2 washers they gave me a brand new assembly (complete with everything) and i put that on it was weird but both combines 05 and 03 were terrible about throwing the clutch off this year dealers promised to go threw them before next year Well if you get a 12 row ready 2388 its standard but optional on the other 2388. Basically Its a heavyer auger in the grain tank.... but besides that im not sure what else is different i just asssumed there are other addon's

We have a bubble up auger in our 2388 which has a Mauer extension with a 6-8" tiptop on top of it. Puts the hopper capacity up to about 320 dry bu of dry corn. I can't recall the name of the bubble auger, starts with a 'B'). This is the first combine we have had with a bubble auger. I am a little disappointed in that we are seeing wear on the top flighting of the fountain auger ( 1st 1.5 spirals) and the bottom of the bubble auger (about the same amount) at about the same seperator hours that we have seen the same wear on other machines withou the bubbleup. Though not as much of the fountain auger is affected as on the other machines I posted a question awhile back on here about putting on the poly flighting kits. Which is what we are going to do for next fall. Still, I think the bubble auger is worth the investment, especially since we are pushing grain quite a bit higher.

Something to thing about on flighting wear. I had the local metal shop roll a 5_16" rod and we welded it to the outside of the flighting. I did this on a unloading auger for a grain bin. I think this helps capacity. You will need to use a wire feed welder to avoid burning off the outside edge of your auger. Try it you make find it worth the effort. JWK

JWK, You'll like the performance with the rod welded around the outside of the flighting. But eventually the flighting will wear out inside the rod area. When that breaks away, let us know what happens or where it ends up. It will probably just lock up the elevator drive and that should be at least two years from now. Keep an eye on the wear pattern.
