I don't think anyone is willing to run a combine long enough to find out how far that auger will go with a rod welded on there. All the wear is on the edge, very little occurs at the flat surface of the flighting. I ran one on a vertical unloader over 2K hours and the flighting still looked like 80% left. Only place that wear is a real problem even with this fix is on the exposed portion of the fountain auger, and if it has to push corn up into a high extension, this will require more attention than any other auger on the machine. Easiest to randr too. gs
