Combines bushing on end of rear feeder drive

There is an updated rear feeder drive shaft, bushings, etc that is somewhat spendy, but it solves premature wear problems. It is for machines built prior to about 90. Tom in MN

thanks Tom but if this is just another engineering flaw then I can just keep an eye on it and keep making bushings my bushings fit better anyway and last a little longer cheaper than buying an expensive change over thanks for the response Bob

I'm unsure which machine you have but I'm going to guess R50. The R60 and 70's with the P3 processer have a thick flat washer with oring and grease zirks to support that pulley slip clutch which eliminates load on that bushing. I have installed many of them to the R50s ect. I believe all the machines after '91 had that pulley slip clutch supported to prevent the problem you are starting to see. Good luck.

sorry guys my gleaner is a early R-52 we think we may have found some of the trouble the hub for the clutch and the shaft splines seem to be worn causing the clutch to tork we took the clutch apart and reversed the center spline and reinstalled seems to fit tighter now, will see, also the dogs for the clutch are somewhat rounded could we reverse these alsoIJIJ are do they have to be replaced thanks again for all the help!!! probably are looking at replacing the whole thing down the road

You can get a kit that includes 8 dogs 8 small springs and 8 large springs. I would believe you could install this kit nearest to pulley mount and use your old parts in the rest of clutch. I believe that would make a strong enough clutch for a R52. The fat washer I mentioned earlier is for you. It bolts to end of shaft where you have a thin washer now. This fat washer with oring will just fit into drive pulley so it holds things straight and plus the grease zirks will keep spline lubed. Your belt can climb up on top of pulley and snap because tentioner will not release far enough and belt won't strech that far if pulley is getting pulled croaked. I have only seen this problem on the earliest R52s and R50s for they are the first machines that had a clutch on the rear feed. No R40s around hear but I would assume they could be fixed up the same way if they are getting worn.
