The R-50 was a pretty good machine. The design was very similar to the 2 series that followed. Main issues on the R-50 was keeping the air cooled Deutz engine clean. A common wear item was the air fan on the engine needing to be replaced every 750 hrs. or so. It is a must to have good air movement. In beans, or for any crop for that matter, inspect helicals for wear. If they wear down, the crop will not flow through very well and rob a lot of power. Value of an R-50 depends on hrs., condition, and appearance. I have seen them advertised generally for around $20,000 to $25,000.
