Mark, The sharktooth has worked very well for us over the past three seasons to do just what you have asked..The bean stems are not quite as short as through a factory chopper but they are more shredded and by spring it is hard to find any difference.you won't need to change it when running corn as it helps releasing grain trapped in the husks and is plenty tough enough to run the cobs through.. The unit is easy to maintain and remove if you need to for small grain.If you go this direction put the sharktooth grate in the second position to avoid buildup on the slantboard under the third grate position.
