The solution according to my neighborhood experts is to remove the cage sweep. Thats the first thing they told me to do when I bought my first rotary and I did. Tom in MN

get rid of the sweep. My dad runs a 79 N6 we have had the sweep out now for 4 yrs, and it has been running just fine. When we bought the combine in 85 we ran it for one yr. The scecond yr we took the belt off and ran it that way uptil 4 yrs ago. The cage dose not need any covers on it, and as for losses we do not have any. We have also done some hyping to it too, like running a sunnybrooke rotor and concave, the rolls are all updated and the rest of the machine is too, Dad is running around 290 hp, so he some what keeps up to my two R72.Hope this helps Colin

Took belt off cage sweep and all cage covers off. It now only plugs at center post. Any more suggestions. THANKS in advance.

If you already haven't done so get rid of the reverser bars and use all forwards. I did this the year before I hyperized and was amazed at the difference. Still had the sweep at the time but only bothered about once a day when conditions were just right for it. After hyperizing, no more cage sweep and no buildup around the cage either.

We take cage sweep out completely. We then keep covers on both sides of center support and far right cover. All other covers removed. To keep center area from plugging if you still have trouble is build wall upward from the center support and about half way around cage. Newer machines without the cage sweeps have a wall to prevent any material hanging.
