Go ahead and put the 5 tooth sprocket on, also get the pre-shortened chains from Calmer. Your guide blocks will wear some because of the smaller driver sprocket, but only until the side plates of the chain wear deep enough for the rollers to contact the guide blocks, then no more wear. We didn't put on the deck plates, just the 5 tooth drivers and the Pixall rolls. Have not had a single instance of the afternoon buildup of trash since we did this 4 years ago. This past fall we finally wore out our old deck plates, we will install Calmer's instead of the JD. Good luck Hank
