I'd be very carefull about doing somthing like that. You'd be starting a war you can't win.

I'd be very carefull about doing someting like that. You'd be starting a war you can't win. It's fine if you think Deere sucks but just because you think your big shot and hate Deere you had better expect some NEGATIVE feedback from the Deere guys when they see the sticker.

Put on a disguise and go to a JD dealer and buy a deere enblom---then you can buy a Calvin emblem at a performance store for pickups

Well, I can't help commenting on that one. It looks like AGCOkid may have a point. At least he is entitled to his opinion and has the right to show it. This should not start a color war or anything else he can't win. Who said he has to "win" anythingIJ This whole thing about brand loyalty should be for our own, but not a holy crusade. I really do like Deere and think they make excellent combines, but so does AGCO, C-IH, NH, and all the rest of them. I would never say any combine company "sucks," and would not like others to, either. I would not display that particular emblem. Maybe I find it too distasteful, but I don't see where it is grounds for fighting anymore than those who put the ones with the Ford or Chevy names on their vehicles. I used to wear a T-shirt with a more humorous and perhaps punnish slogan. I made it as an adaptation of a popular hunting scene showing a buck running as a hunter drew his rifle. I added the "Nothing gets shot like a Deere" slogan. It always got a lot of laughs as well as raised eyebrows. Another friend wears one I don't think I'd wear in public. It reads "nothing runs like a Deere and stinks like a john." That's almost like the Calvin stickers. I'll also admit to using the term "Silver Seeder," but that doesn't make me a racist Gleaner hater. I really love Gleaners. It does concern me, though if you or anyone else gets too irate over another's expression of opinion. Gee, it's not like he threatened to burn down a Deere house or shoot some combines, sheesh! Cut the guy some slack!

Have you ever seen this one: "There is nothing that runs like a Deere with a Johnson in it". Thats a good one for all you Johnsons out there.

I think the kid has a point to make fun of all the JD tags. I know I get sick of seeing them, and the majority of these Deere guys think they are so high and mighty and nothing else is as good. Most of them won't even give another brand a fair chance, be it AGCO, CNH, or whoever. The Deere guys express their opinion everday in all the places farmers talk. let Calvin show freedom of speech. It is a right in the USA

As others have said, quality_perfection is in the eye of the beholder. Even if I was a farmer (I just help out on a farm during harvest) I couldn't justify buying a new Gleaner or John Deere. It'd be used for me. That being said, I'd stay with Gleaners. I've gotten to know them well, and have no idea how they earned their "silver seeder" name. Within my first week of running one, I had excellent sample in the tank, and none on the ground. When you think about it, saying your brand is best is just silly. Show me one person who has changed their opinion based soley on what you have to say.

I thought the Case-IH boys had the best one. "Nothing kills a Deere like a Magnum"

That's a good one, l3.I kinda like like the hunting puns as I'm a deer hunter myself. I always had hoped maybe someone would really pick up on the "nothing is shot like a Deere" because the word, shot, has two meanings.

I know this post has been up for a while. Not wanting to sound santimonious(spIJ). All of the Calvin symbols that you see are being used without the permission of the creator of Calvin and Hobbs. Mr. Waterson is very adamant about not commercializing his characters in this manner. He has fought with his syndicate over this for years. That is one of the reasons that he discontinued that comic strip. Anyways, aren't you glad that we have Fords, Chevys, and even Dodges. Same way with tractors and combines. Competition is a manifold blessing to us consumers. It will be a sad day for us that farm when there is just one color to farm with. I believe that Calvin would need to pee on that.
