Hi Mike, Yes I think he needs to install the cone. This year most of the corn I cut was at 15% or below because of the high dock at the elevator. I could hardly beleave how much more capacity I had in the dry corn compared to 17% to 19% that we had been cutting in past years. With the eight row I found myself pushing 6 mph at times in 190 to 215 bu. corn. And with the old six row corn head.. well you can imagine. That cone in the clean grain cross auger does wonders. Oh yeah I was running the clean grain elevator on the slow side. I've never found that running it on the fast side adds that much capacity.

The newer machines come with a cone on the right hand side of the clean grain cross auger. I've not seen one, but would guess it's made from tin or maybe plastic. You probably would have to pull the seives to install it.
