I run a 25' flex on my '91 8570. The machine will not handle a 30' in green stem soybeans. We have to run less than 2 mph with our 25' in these conditions - and then have to unplug the rotor several times. The addition of rice plates on the front beater has helped, but the machine still doesn't like those conditions. We love the machine in all other conditions and crops. The newer models have concave wires closer to the concave bars, which I have heard helps. Yes, the bars and concaves are in excellent condition. We have also added rotor knives. Have been drivung Massey's for 24 years, and know how to set conventionals and rotaries. We are looking into St.John's rotor modification. I know something can be done to improve performance to equal or exceed than of a CIH, which we have also operated.
