Combines Capacity of R42

It will handle six row thirty at the same bushels per hour as 4-38's. If you do 800-900 bushels of corn per hr now, it will do the same or maybe just a tad more. If you open up the fuel delivery on injection pump, it could be the same as an R52. I think your 3 to 3.5 range is very doable in the yields you're talking about. I've had an R40 doing the same thing since 1990 with no disappointments-the limit is HP.

I guess the capacity isn't my concern but you're right about the H.P. I don't have a problem with overloading the machine but it does pull the engine down at times on hills. I asked my dealer about getting some extra H.P. and he didn't seem to know. I don't want to do anything that would cause problems with the engine but another 20 or 30 H.P. would be nice with the 6-30 head.

Just wondering what you are planning to do with your head. Is it a Hugger or a N438, orange stripe or Box.

I would sell it or trade it. It's a Hugger, bought new in 1998 and is in excellent shape. It is kept in the shed whenever possible.

I have a 6 row head on an R-42 , I have no problem at all with power (Deutz) , although if I go over 4 mph it will come out the back end.
