Every thing else being equal meaning dealers and service which you wont need much with the 2388 I can count on one hand the amount of times in 25 years I have had them out on the axial flow curently we run 2 2388s and 8010, have had more trouble in one year with 8010 than than all the 14s 16s 21s and 23s combined you wont regret a 2388.
I have worked with both machines, the 2388 is a good combine but the 9790 is a better one,he would not be disappointed with it.As far as capacity, the 2388 is closer to the 9690.
Unless Case has changed something over the years why would you want to buy a combine that comes with the big wrench that is needed to unplug the rotor when the Massey has a reverse built right in to the speed control.
id go with the 2388 we ran a 2188 for several years and had alot of luck with it then we have been rolling 2 2388's each year with a local guy and things have been going fine nothing major so far and weve been doing this for 6-9 years
