Combines Case IH 1640 combinne with 1010 25

les, We have a 1989 1660 with the DT466 navistar engine. We just completed winter wheat harvest of ~50 bushel_acre hard red, pushing a 25' 1010 and groundspeeds averaging 3.5 to 4.2 with almost nothing out the back. The straw was so dry and powdery this year that the primary limitation was the MOG on the shoe, not horsepower. Since horsepower is the only real capacity difference between the 2 machines, I would estimate that you would be fine with slightly lower groundspeeds. Chuck

Thanks chuck, hard to decide whether to get an older machine like a 1480 with more capacity, and a wider header or newer machine with a few upgrades. Thanks again.
