What about the lexion thoughIJ I saw those at the Claas distribution center in Indiana, they parked it right out where you could see it from the Interstate. They make that at HesstonIJ

The lexion combines are made in Omaha by Class of America. The CHAllENGER combines, which are Masseys painted yellow, are built in Heeston. Basicaly Cat sells two different lines of combines made by two different companies.

You guys really can't read on this page, can youIJ I thought is was just a joke that everyone was telling. :^) If you would pay attention to those farming magazines that we all can't seem to get along without, you would be enlightened to know the facts about the ever changing ag machinery business. There really isn't anything new going on that hasn't been going on for years, it just isn't happening quite as fast as it did in the seventies. We just have some mighty big "global" players involved today. By the way, isn't it about time that an archeological dig starts on the site of the old Oliver plant! Ten thousand years from now, such a plant of that magnitude, in the middle of Nowhere, Iowa, will hopefully have about the same impact as the tomb of King Tut. The old CaseIH Axial-flow plant, now with its windows all borded up and standing like a hulking shell will have to sit and rot until "superfund" takes over, or until Deere buys it for $1 to use as a parking garage for Harvester Works (they sit across the street from each other for those who aren't familiar). It will be interesting to see who survives the next ten years. My take is that CaseIH and New Holland will continue to merge into one, possibly owned by another company. Deere may get bought out by a much larger diversified and agressive company. Claas will continue on its path as a manufacturer of premium grade_value added harvesting products, possibly offering a tractor someday. Buhler will fall victim to excessive development costs associated with the EPA's tier 4 emissions requirements and low volume production, McCormick hinges on its investment groups roots. AGCO, who knows. Its parts division might just have a nervous break down from managing its ever changing list of part numbers for different colors of paint!

Caterpillar marketed lexion (Claas built) combines thru Cat dealers from 97 thru 2001. Cat then chose to get totally out of AG and sold the New MT series Challenger tractors (AND THE CHAllENGER name) to AGCO. Claas was left out in the cold so to speak with a new facility in Omaha. Cat agreed to AllOW Claas to market their combine(lexion) thru Cat dealers only and it had to have a Cat engine and Cat decals on the side to do so. Agco on the other hand, has the Challenger name to slap on the side of a yellow Massey (Cat engine!!!!) and can only market it thru Cat dealers as an alternative to the Claas lexion. There isn't a real conflict because the Claas is higher dollar (and technologically more ahead) and a class 9 available, where the Challenger (yellow massey_cat eng) is less dollars and a smaller machine. Omaha is only an option installation and parts facility(final assembly). Combines are built in Germany. In other words if you want a straw chopper and RWA on your new Claas lexion, it would probably be installed in Omaha on the basic machine. The Challenger combine is built in Hesston.

Coors light, you should send your response to a magazine, I love it, how true it is, anyone know whats happening in the previous Gleaner plantIJ Up here in Canada, our Cat dealers dont sell the yellow Massey's, Are there many where you areIJ My opinion is Agco should paint em all silver with Gleaner decals, same idea they did with the tractors.
