I normaly buy the cheap CB's at Farm and Fleet. They cost around $45.00 and seem to hold up well. Another place to check would be any truck stop or radio shack.
Depends on whether you want to talk past the end of the field or not. I would buy a Connex 3300 HP or a Ranger 6900 F-150. Either one coupled with a good coax and antenna will do the best job you can expect.
