Combines CDF test help

I think the cdf's lose flow thru rotor. I beleive the helicals needs to be shimmed out a 1_4 to 1_2 inch. I tried to close up seperator grate in some down corn that was losing flow it did not seem to help any and took more power.

tbran, I found in spring wheat it took extra power when you tightened it (sep. grate) up beyond 7. Beyond that and capacity would be maxed out. I also did not need it any tighter as n 7 1_2 controlled any rotor loss. 25' foot head operated in flex. Dave

in the ones that i ran this fall we had to close cyl. up pretty tight. most times running about .3-.37 and speed from 700-770. they can be different to get set but once you do all you have to do is drive. 2 r-65's w_30 foot heads running 4.5 mph in 60+ bushel beans and the engine never came off of high idle, with NO RUMBlE. what a difference from last year.
