ihman, I'm not sure what kind of spreaders you're running and on what series of machine but if you are running the stock CIH chaff and straw spreaders your salution is hanging right there on the combine. You mentioned the spreader curtain, remove the back section of that curtain and bolt it on to the bottom of the front spreader curtain and then bolt the other side to that long curtain that goes across right in front of the spreaders. You'll kill two birds with one stone by doing that. With out that back spreader curtain on there, the spreaders will spread farther and you will not have that build up on the axle.
