Combines challenger combine

The Challenger combines will be nothing more than a repainted, repowered (Cat) Massey 8780. Other than that, no difference. You can buy a comparably sized Cat lexion for similar money and have more performance.

John, Where does your data come from to back this statement up. What crops are you comparing the two machines toIJ Have you run either combine or had them in the same fieldIJ If you haven't how would you knowIJ Would appreciate the comparison data that you must have.

Rooster the only difference is the 8780 is simple, cheeper, lots of capasity and your choice of power.

I have run both, as well as witnessed them during side-by-side comparisons, shows, demos, etc. The Massey is the weakest combine on the market! Where in the world are you coming up with the idea that the Massey has "lots capacityIJ" That antiquated box lumbers (3-3.5 mph) through the fields with an 8 row corn head in 150+ bu_ac corn; speed-up, slow-down, speed-up, slow-down, and that's without weeds, amazing no one. Watch the darn things at the farm shows. If it wasn't for some of the rules at the shows, the competition would constantly be pulling out, passing the Massey pass after pass. For a class six, it is an awful lite class six. Class six Deere, Case, Cat, NH are all capable of more productivity. I don't compalin about what the Massey is capable of but, to say they have lots of capacity is no true and to say they are truely simple, well, looks are deceiving.

We ran our 1688 against a 8570 mf in durun wheat and canola in the wheat the 8570 would keep right with the 1688 in canola the 8570 seem to be pulling ahead most of the time Grain quality was a little better with the 8570

Very unlikely that the Challenger will be a yellow 8780XP. It will more than likely be the new AGCO combine which looks like a Massey but has many Gleaner goodies in it too. Brian
