Combines changing combine for different crops

Yo, good job on the 86. We have one also and all I do to go from corn_soy to small grain is take out the concave extensions (large wires and rollers on some combines like ours) and put in small wire (close together wire) extensions. We took the bottom sieve for corn and beans and put it on top position and then put the small grain sieve in the bottom (we got it with the combine, it might be a peterson chaffer for you, but we have the short finger sieve instead). We Replace the perforated grates and doors with the solid ones and check the height of the front drum. To turn off the chopper, remove belt if you want the straw or leave it to chop and blow back on the field. We are going to an airfoil sieve (top only) from loewen Mfg. to make setup easier. That is about all we do for our conversion. We leave in all the wires and rollers for small grain and beans. We might take out some rollers and wires in certain corn conditions but it will depend on time of year, variety, etc... Hope this helps...Make sure to get the owners manual, it has very good instructions on the machine and setup, etc... lA. PS Anything else just ask.
