Combines Changing Fluid

Can I ask why you want to changeIJ Is it to make all your machines use the same fluidIJ I wanted to make the same change in the hydraulic system of my Nissan forklift but the advice I got from the Nissan service manager was stay with ATF. That hyd system only has a pump, hyd valves, and some cylinders; the tranny is a separate system. I would think if anything could change to hyd fluid, the forklift hyd system could.

Yes, we have a 99' R62 and then a 97' we just bought, the 97' did not get the running change in the fluid, as it was one of the first out that year. We cut with my uncle, and he has a 96 and a 98, he changed his 96 so now the 97' is the odd one out. If they were all the same we wouldn't have to worry about as much mixing fluids as much in the header, and we would have the option to switch the headers around more. It's not that big of a deal. I didn't know what it was going to cost. But for a hundred bucks I think I would change it, but if it gets more than that, just leave it and leave it's header on for the duration. Thanks!

Which fluid is recommended IJ I think I'm running a combination of the 2 and want to change mine as well.

I am not sure if either one is better than the other, just that at around 97' gleaner switched to 821 hydraulic fluid, instead of mercon dexron in the earlier models. I am kind of curious why they changed it also.

How often do you change the hydraulic system in your R62IJ My R60 gets an annual change so the cost should be about the same for oil and filters. I did change an M2 from ATF to hydraulic fluid 25 years ago because I wanted to get away from too many oil types to haul around in the service truck. It seemed to run okay with the wrong oil.

Changed my '92 R52 to 821 last fall. Had hydro rebuilt and rebuilder gave me grief for using ATF. Told him that was OEM. After third rebuild and still not right went to 821 for greater viscosity. Got performance back to what it was before rebuild. Anyways, Hesston told me the porting in valves is designed for ATF but could use 821 as long as oil was warmed up before going to field if temps were down around 0 F. I never had a problem.

Bought the 99 with 700 sep hours, changed it between 1050-1100 sep hours. Maybe once every three to four years or so.
