Funny this internet!!! I've used it and I'm from the other side of the "big pond". It was installed in an experimental pull-type 1480 and run by Altendorf harvesting from Minto ND.The 1480 was a purpose made combine converted to a bean harvester by Altendorfs for approx $20000,I understand pull-type bean harvesters are around $100000.It had a 20f SUN pick up edible bean head and that special rotor and a conveyer type disharge auger,at the time they where also experimenting with a new type of edible bean head made by the same company in Grafton ND.The machine generally worked well and the rotor was a revelation in hard to harvest Edibles (dirt ingested by combine etc)!!!

Do you think this would really work in soybeansIJ How would it thresh the podsIJ Does it just drag them around until they break openIJ

Its purpose is primarily for edible beans, a much more delicate crop than soybeans and extremely dry (bean),pretty much self-threshing, when harvested. This type of rotor would most likely have a negative effect when harvesting soybeans, especially green-stem, high-moisture (immature) beans.

I can see where that thing would have a lot of capacity in easy threshing crops, but what gets the crop into the rotorIJ No impeller bars, not even an auger up front, and I can't see how that cone will do much for bringing the crop into the rotor.
